Dr. Denise A. Donnelly

Denise A. Donnelly is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.  Her research focus includes areas in gender and sexualities, conflict and violence, and inequalities.  She is currently working on several projects, specifically: 1) Cross cultural comparisons of radical African American and Northern Irish Catholic activism; 2) Strategies for preventing transsexual and homophobic bullying; and 3) A book-length project on the lives of involuntary celibates.Dr. William B. Bynum, Jr., a career higher education professional, is the Vice President for Student Services at Morehouse College.  A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Dr. Bynum earned his A.B. (bachelors) in sociology at Davidson College, where he was a scholarship student-athlete.  Dr. Bynum earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from Duke University, where he was a four-year Duke Endowment Fellow.

Denise has been instrumental and active in the movement to end sexual and intimate violence, as well as having an interest in international conflict transformation.  Each May Denise leads a yearly study abroad trip to Northern Ireland.  Denise received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Florida in 1990, and completed an NIMH post-doctoral fellowship in Family Violence Training at the Family Research Laboratory, University of New Hampshire, in 1993.
