Mr. Smith is a Gates Millennium Scholar. Through the Gates Millennium Scholars program Mr. Smith is involved in the ambassador and mentoring programs where he reaches out to prospective scholars and mentors underclassmen scholars respectively. During his time at Morehouse he has been involved in many service-oriented organizations that include Breakthrough Atlanta, The American Children’s Organization, and Jumpstart. Mr. Smith aspires to enroll in an Education Policy or Sociology of Education graduate program. Once he obtains his graduate degree, Mr. Smith plans to work with charter schools or non-profit organizations to influence and improve their policies and practices. Mr. Smith joined the Faces of Manhood initiative to help students begin to discuss the role and current position of African Americans males in education. Because he career and personal interests are in education, Mr. Smith believes that his insights can help bring a unique outlook to the program.
